Join us as Anna Lidström, Sweden's first Doctor in Redesign, takes us on a creative journey from waste to wonder.

Anna will discuss topics such as redesign and upcycling from a design perspective, fashion remnants, practice-based artistic research, speculative design, and the role of imagination in the creative process.

Drawing from her research, she'll explore how existing garments can be reimagined, challenging traditional design methods and thinking.

About Anna Lidström

Anna is a researcher, lecturer, designer, and artist, whose work focus on sustainable fashion design, with specialization in the field of redesign, reuse, and resource recovery from a design perspective.

In June 2023 Anna defended her doctoral thesis “Redesign Foundations” that explores challenges for conventional design methods and design thinking in redesign processes and introduces a contribution to the development of the methodological foundations of redesign.

The redesign perspectives and methods explored within Annas research focus on defining design potential in waste materials, surplus production, and product elements as well as design methodology for processing waste materials, surplus production and product elements for reuse and redesign.

Over the past 7 years, pre and parallel to the PhD work, Anna have been working in numerous collaborative design research and innovation projects with the Swedish fashion industry, dealing with various aspects of sustainability in different fields of design. This together with the Swedish School of Textiles & Science Park Borås.
